For adventurers who:
Are looking for an active weekend hiking in Snowdonia where you do the driving. Perfect for couples, families and friends who want to enjoy fresh clean air and open spaces.
Day 1
Whether you’re driving from the South, North or Midlands, with our recommendations you’re sure to enjoy the drive through Wales. Check in to your comfortable B&B guesthouse in a picturesque village in Snowdonia national park and explore your new home for the weekend.
Your weekend adventure is designed to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind, escaping to the fresh clean air and wide open spaces of North Wales.
We’ll provide some recommendations for where to eat this evening, depending on the food style you’re in the mood for.
Day 2
Today you’ll conquer the iconic Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the guesthouse before packing up the car for a short drive to the start of your hike.
We’ll provide you with details of a circular hiking route, taking you up one of the many trails that lead to Snowdon’s summit. Pause for a rest at it’s peak, perfect for the obligatory summit selfie. There is a cafe at the summit where you can refuel, however we recommend taking a picnic and choosing to enjoy it at one of the many viewpoints on your descent.
The hiking route we recommend to you will be best suited to your hiking ability. Whichever route we suggest, you can be confident of enjoying a circular walk, giving you a much more immersive experience than the typical up & down route taken by many first time visitors.
After a short drive back to your guesthouse, you’ll be ready for a cosy evening in the local pub and an early night.
Day 3
After a delicious breakfast, pull on your hiking boots and set off from the guesthouse door for a gentle circular walk. The picturesque village is the perfect backdrop for any photo, with it’s traditional stone houses and famous bridge. It’s also home to the faithful dog of legend, Gelert. His grave is just a short walk from the village and well worth a visit if you were touched by his story in your childhood.
In mid summer when the days are longer, if you’re up for a bigger hiking challenge, we recommend tackling Moel Hebog. It’s one of the quieter peaks in Snowdonia national park, but an impressive one to conquer! With around 795m of ascent over a total 9km distance, this is a good hike. We recommend allowing around 3.5 – 4 hours to complete it.
Whichever walk you opt for, once you’re finished it’s time to head home. We’ll provide recommendations for a lunch stop on your way out of Wales.
